Sitting on 40 acres, Lake Lucerne is a private lake in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Lake Lucerne is just 12 miles from Atlanta, where you can find Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Emory Saint Joseph Hospital. It is part of a private community that shares the same name, Lake Lucerne Estates.

While on the Water

Anglers will be pleased to find over eight species of fish in Lake Lucerne. People have had success catching fish with both live and artificial bait. Electric, not gas, motor boats are allowed, so the fishing experience will always be peaceful.

Lake Lucerne is also a great place to swim, sit by the lake, and enjoy a relaxing evening by the still waters. While you stay on the lake, you can see various wildlife such as turtles, blue and green herons, hawks, ducks, and many other species.

A popular destination for people near Lake Lucerne is Stone Mountain Park, a 3,200-acre state park. Here you can hike, golf, picnic, explore the historic quarry, and ride the Summit Skyride and Scenic Railroad. Stone Mountain Park also hosts several festivals and events throughout the year. Popular restaurants here include Basecamp Cafe, Big Rock Cafe, and Campfire Smokehouse.

Another frequently visited site near Lake Lucerne is BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Atlanta. This is a massive, beautiful temple in Lilburn, Georgia. It features gorgeous architecture and Hindu imagery but is open for all to take in the sights. They also host community events throughout the year.

If you want a trip to the big city, Atlanta is just down the road from Lake Lucerne. In Atlanta, you can visit Piedmont Park, the Children’s Museum of Atlanta, and Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. You can also eat at Agave Restaurant, Atlanta Breakfast Club, and Twisted Soul Cookhouse and Pours.
