If you prefer a racquet over a club, try out the club's tennis and racquets facility. There is a variety of Rubico and hard courts, which conveniently sit next to the club pool.

Visit Covington, Louisiana

Covington is a quaint Louisiana town that sits a few miles off the coast of Lake Pontchartrain.

The area is only 13 miles from Goodyears Pond, and it offers a variety of places to eat, drink, and have fun. There are a variety of restaurants to choose from, from DiChristina's Italian and Seafood to The English Tea Room & Eatery, you won't have any trouble satiating your taste buds.

There is also the Tammany Trace-Covington Trailhead and Bogue Falaya Wayside Park if spending time outside better suits you.

Drive to Lake Pontchartrain

What makes Goodyears Pond genuinely unique is its proximity to the famous Lake Pontchartrain. Less than an hour's drive from Erwin Pond Lake is the much larger Lake Pontchartrain, which borders Louisiana's Gulf Coast. So, the ocean is not much farther south. Lake Pontchartrain is the largest lake in Louisiana and encompasses 630 square miles.

This lake is technically an estuary because it is open to the Gulf of Mexico and has a mix of salt and freshwater. It is the perfect place to observe marine life, birds and catch a variety of fish due to its shallow waters. You can even sight dolphins, sharks, and other unique ocean life at times.

The lake is open to swimming, fishing, boating, and other recreation. It is a great spot to experience big lake living while being able to return to the tranquility of Goodyears Pond.
