Brandenburg Lake is in Grant Township, Illinois, just over an hour from Chicago.

Brandenburg Lake is a private, 75-acre area that does not allow gasoline engines, meaning residents can enjoy the lake peacefully.

Anglers can expect to find a variety of fish including sunfish, carp, catfish, pumpkinseed, crappie, rock bass, bream/bluegill, bullhead, white bass, perch, walleye, warmouth, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, and northern pike.

Entertainment Options

History buffs should visit the beautiful Cuneo Museum and Gardens to view the Cuneo family collection of fine art and furnishings, set in a beautiful 100-acre estate. The museum now belongs to Loyola University Chicago.

Sportsmen should be sure to go to either White Deer Run Golf Club or Vernon Hills Golf Course to have some fun off the water.

The Hawthorn Mall has over 120 stores, perfect for a family shopping trip or a relaxing day out.

Explore Nature

Brandenburg Lake is part of the Volo Bog State Natural Area, which encompasses 900 acres of wetlands, forests, bogs, and prairies. Visitors come here for hiking, stargazing, and wildlife watching.

Nature-lovers should go hiking on the three-mile Tamarack View Trail, also located in the Volo Bog State Natural Area.
